About the art studios
Odile Cadiot Ceramics is a teaching and design studio. We have partnered up with St. Clements and St. James CE primary school to offer studio space to a small group of local artists. The aim is to provide stable, affordable studios by collaborating with the school to provide teacher training and access to professional arts skills and facilities.

We are able to offer rooms well below market rate by sharing our expertise with the school: Successful applicants will be expected to put aside a little time each term (likely around 10 hours) to be involved in various activities and initiatives. A minimum level of engagement is agreed when signing a residency license, with additional opportunities for collaboration, including some paid time, fulfilled at the artist’s discretion.

The art building is self-contained and separate from the rest of the school with its own street access and amenities. It is a superb space: light, airy and peaceful with excellent facilities just a few minutes walk from Holland Park tube station. Our initial contract will be in place for 3-5 years and we expect rents to remain stable during that time.

You can follow this link if you wish to know more about how the building and admissions process is organised.

The building is part of St Clements & St James CE primary school. The address of the school is Penzance Place, W11 4PG but the location of the art studios is in a building on Princedale Road - we are currently in the process of applying for a separate address. (See below for location map.)
Available rooms:
The building is currently in use as the school's nursery area, as can be seen by the available photographs. Once the school has broken up for the summer holidays, we will be moving in and adapting the building for use as an arts space. Residents are welcome to paint and decorate rooms and can make changes to the flooring, layout and furniture. Clicking the mini photos below will open a larger gallery.

The courtyard studio:
104 ft2, £305 per month *Room now leased*
This room is north facing with diffuse light and a view into a gated courtyard. It is very comfortable and more generously proportioned than the photographs, taken on mobile phone, might suggest. The room has its own private street entrance which can be used (or ignored) by the resident as they wish.

The garden studio:
112 ft2, £330 per month *still available*
This room is south facing with a view into the garden. It has hard floors, running water and wonderful natural light. It currently has a kitchen area with cupboards, worktop and sink. The room is being offered with these units, although changes can be made where wished.

The tiled studio:
158 ft2, £460 per month available 1 Sep 2019 * still available*
This room is currently a washroom with miniature nursery fittings! It is in the process of being refurbished, so not many photos are available. Work will be started during the summer holidays and it will be available by 1 Sep so it is available for viewing now. The space is larger than the other studios and very practical: it has a separate lockable storeroom, sink,  running water, hard floors and excellent natural light. As with the other rooms, it can be decorated to the artists' taste. There may be opportunities to adjust works to your needs (eg, placement of powerpoints) during refurbishment if enquiries are made early enough.

How to apply
We anticipate that this situation would most likely appeal to a relatively established artist or crafter with some existing experience or interest in teaching and community initiatives. However, we are very happy to hear from anyone who feels that they could benefit by and contribute to this unique situation and every application will be considered.

We have arranged for visiting times on Saturday afternoons for people interested in the spaces to come and view the building. If you would like to attend a viewing, please fill out the visiting form with your preferred times and we will confirm your appointment via email.

If you wish to apply for the space, you'll need to start by filling in the application form which will ask you to describe your practice and upload your CV. The deadline for applications is 23rd June 2019.

Once we have your details we will start the selection process: If we think that we can offer a good match for you practice, we will send you a second stage form to fill in. This will allow you to give us an example of how you might work with the school and give us the necessary information and references to fulfil the school's safeguarding criteria.

Once we have processed your application, we will discuss it with the school and invite you to an approval meeting where you can meet the staff and your fellow applicants. We will contact you shortly after this meeting to confirm whether we can offer you a space.

There will be someone to show you around during the building visit who will be able to answer any questions you may have, so we would suggest that you keep most queries until we meet face to face. If you have further queries or you are having difficulty finding a suitable viewing time, please feel welcome to address any enquiries to Odile at studio@odilecadiotceramics.com

Important note: Starting an application will require you to create or use your Google login in order to upload your CV. If you are experiencing difficulty becuase of this, please get in touch with Odile using the email address above.
